Labor heavies love to denigrate John Howard for being too damn smart. The latest to do so is Alan Carpenter -- he of the never clever -- in his criticism of the Budget:
I love this bit, which makes him sound like such a sheltered simpleton (hardly surprising, since he is): "He's offered my mum and dad $500 each to vote for him and I don't think it will succeed."
He's not sure. Ha!
What's revealing is the accusation and the characterisation: Carpenter thinks it's "clever" to "bribe" someone. Eh? He probably thinks that whoopie cushions are sophisticated.
