Here's a contemporary paradox: You're deemed a "racist" if you point out that Aborigines are disproportionately represented in crime statistics. You're considered even more "racist" if you endorse a compassionate "one standard; one standard for all" approach to address the problem. But you're an "anti-racist" if you say there's not a problem, then create and fund a racially specific quasi-police force to deal with it (and ineffectually).
This is the kind of creepy double-think that afflicts Alan Carpenter's Labor, one of the most sanctimoniously PC regimes in Oz. And it's one of the many reasons an increasing number of voters want to get rid of it.
If the West Oz Libs want to make the inevitable swing against Labor even greater, they should really focus on this particular issue. They should promise to disband the Nyoongar Patrol immediately if elected, and make a point of condemning the revolting, sinister racism that was instrumental in its creation.
